When you drive around San Antonio, you can see billboards for IDEA Public Schools highlighting that 100% of their senior students have been accepted at colleges and universities nationwide for the last 14 years. This marketing message also appears on the institution’s website:
“IDEA PUBLIC SCHOOLS:
100% COLLEGE ACCEPTANCE.
For 14 years in a row, our seniors
have been accepted to colleges and
universities nationwide.”
The two founders of IDEA Public Schools, named the program IDEA, an acronym for “Individuals Dedicated to Excellence and Achievement,” and “No Excuses!” was their motto. IDEA enjoyed quick success, and the state of Texas granted a charter to IDEA in 2000. Beginning with only grades 4 to 8, the original flagship campus has expanded into a full-scale Pre-K—12 campus today.
