Read the short story “The Things They Carried,” NOT the novel!
Your discussion MUST use MLA format. Additionally, it must adhere to the following:

a) reference one library source you found about the Vietnam war that is relevant to the story,
b) reference the short story "The Things They Carried" (This is the main focus of your response. See attachment)
c) reference information from the O’Brien/Nate Flick video
d) have at least 2 quotations and cite the source(s)

TOPIC
Your analysis of "The Things They Carried" must focus on issues of historical and cultural context. Do not tell me the plot, and do not tell me how you feel or how soldiers feel! For issues of historical and cultural context, please re-read the PowerPoint "Issues." As you read the story and do research on the Vietnam War, consider how the events and setting of the “The Things They Carried” represent the actual period. In other words, how does the fiction of the O’Brien’s war represent what REALLY happened in the Vietnam War? You must also consider Tim O’Brien’s and Nate Flick’s arguments when discussing your points.
