This is the first of two speeches that you will deliver. The purpose of this speech is to inform your audience about topic using one of the informative speech methods. First you must select a topic by brainstorming some ideas using these six areas:
- Objects (physical things)
- People (singular or groups)
- Events (historic or common)
- Concepts (ideas or schools of thought)
- Processes (how to or how things work)
- Issues (information only, no persuasion)
Next select the method of delivery:
- Definition - define the topic clearly and concisely with sources.
- Description – describe the topic in detail by creating a picture.
- Demonstrate – demonstrate how to do something.
- Explanation - explain how something works.
