Research Paper
There is a scaffolded Research Paper worth a total of 370 points in the course. You must select a topic that is relevant to disability studies, to be approved by the instructor. The chosen topic must be submitted to the Dropbox by Sunday 11:59 pm CT of Week 2. The topic submission is worth 20 points.
The Annotated Bibliography is due in Week 3 and is worth 50 points. The bibliography must contain a minimum of three references, following current APA format. It should address the validity of each selected source and relevance to the chosen topic. This is due by Sunday at 11:59 pm CT. The submission must be a minimum of 500 words.
You will submit a rough draft of your Research Paper during Week 5. The rough draft must be a minimum of 1500 words, following current APA format. The rough draft is due by 11:59 pm CT Sunday. Instructor feedback will be provided. The rough draft is worth 100 points.
In addition to submitting a rough draft to the Dropbox, you will also post your draft to the Peer Review discussion by Thursday 11:59 pm CT during Week 5. The Peer Review is worth 50 points. The general guidelines for peer review are as follows:
- You will select at least one peer’s paper to review that has not yet been reviewed (or claimed for review).
- Peer critique feedback must be posted to their discussion topic by 11:59 pm CT Sunday. You must use the guidelines provided in the Peer Critique Worksheet and Peer Review Rubric (both found in the Content area of the course) to construct your feedback.
- The Peer Critique Worksheet focuses on providing feedback regarding the thesis statement, introduction/body/conclusion, as well as citations and mechanics.
The final draft of the Research Paper is due by 11:59 pm CT Sunday of Week 7. The completed paper must be a minimum of 3000 words, contain at least three references, and follow current APA format. You are encouraged to use the Purdue OWL APA web site as an APA style resource.
