Purpose:
A mental illness is a condition that affects a person’s
thinking, feeling, behavior or mood. These conditions
deeply impact day-to-day living and may also affect the
ability to relate to others. For this assignment the student
will be assigned a mental health disorder, discussing the
pathophysiology, the nursing assessment including the
signs and symptoms of the disorder, nursing diagnosis,
interventions, and outcomes. This paper will be divided
up into three sections due at different points throughout
the semester.
Each section will have its own introduction
and conclusion.
Paper length for all three sections is between four (4) to
five (5) double spaced pages (excluding title, reference
pages) using APA (7th ed.) style and formatting. Paper
must include at least two (2) additional scholarly nursing
journal references outside of the assigned course
readings and not used in the previous assignment. While
the student may use websites to gather epidemiological
information, these resources will not be considered
scholarly articles. Scholarly articles are peer reviewed,
usually include an abstract, consist of several references,
contain several pages, and are usually research oriented
or discuss comprehensively a topic. All references must
be current (published within the past five years)
