Listen for the word for one week. Listen to other students on campus, even listen to professors (yes, every year we have at least one professor say it), even listen to the news (the President has said it, the Governor has said it, Hollywood stars have said it….). Listen for it on TV, in movies, even in music. Who is using the word, and in what context are they using it? How did you react when you heard it? If you discussed it with the person/people who said it, what did you say? How did the conversation go? (Note: you are not required to address it for the assignment, but if you feel comfortable, feel free). If you didn’t say anything? What stopped you? Under what conditions do you think you might have felt comfortable saying something? If you do not hear the word at all this week (which has never happened), then please write about some different times when you did hear the word in the past. Describe those situations and provide the information above.
