After reading Thinking Fast and Slow: Chapters 3 & 4, provide an example of the lazy controller and priming from your own life experience or from your observation of others. The idea is to demonstrate understanding through rich examples.
Your answers are not about revealing personal information, but being able to apply concepts to human scenarios.
Do this:
- Create a Word doc – 1" margins all around with an APA style title page for a student paper. Purdue Owl and others have excellent examples.
- Content pages should be double-spaced 12pt font.
- Using Lazy Controller and Priming as headers (H1 – refer to APA style guide). Below each header write a narrative of your experience with these two phenomena from your own life. I want details showing that you have an understanding of the concepts. Write full sentences. It is perfectly fine if you have an example of this as a witness. In other words, if you saw an example of priming in your best friend when you were hanging out, that is just fine. The point is for you to search your memory for an example for each of these.
- Make sure you are providing rich examples. I want to see your effort to connect specific ideas and thoughts from this reading to your experiences.
- You should have at least one full page double-spaced for each chapter (2 pages total). More pages is fine. 2 is bare minimum, not including a title page.
- Create a separate reference page using APA style. Cite each chapter separately, you should have 2 full references for each chapter. Add any additional references you used in your paper. You are citing chapters in a book. While you wouldn’t normally provide separate references for each chapter in a submitted paper, this is an exercise for you to get used to a new type of citation. Don’t forget the hanging indent.
- This means, at a bare minimum, your paper will consist of 4 pages. (Title, Lazy, Priming, References)
