Written Assignments for Psychology in the News

Visit one or more of the sites at the very bottom for an article for your discussion paper.

Each is due as scheduled on the Course Calendar

LATE papers lose 10 points each calendar day late.

At the top of your paper

1. State your name
2. State which class you are attending [example – 8 am Monday Wednesday]
3. State that you did your write up yourself [see syllabus for academic dishonesty]
4. State the title of the article you read and where you found it.

About the paper

1. Write a 500 or more words describing the article and your assessment of what you read.
2. Warning – if you pick a “really short” paper to write you may have trouble writing 500 words about it. (Papers that have less than 500 words lose points.)
3. Use good grammar and complete sentences. (Important)

1. Good grammar is 40% of the grade.
2. Accurate narrative based on the article you selected is 60% of the grade.

1. You may have a friend or relative check your work, provided you do the original work yourself. Or use  HCC Tutoring at  
2. Each paper is due as scheduled on the Course Calendar
3. Late papers lose 10 points each calendar day late.
4. If you receive a zero on a paper, that zero will not be replaced by the final exam score at the end of the course (see syllabus). Please do write the papers.
