*RESEARCH TIP: California’s Proposition 47 was listed on the statewide ballot as the “Criminal Sentences Misdemeanor Penalties Initiative Statute“. It was also known by it’s supporters as the “Safe Neighborhoods and Schools Act“. It was voted into law in 2014. Debate about the effects of Proposition 47 on crime in California continues to this day.
