Policy Briefs: Students are responsible for writing policy briefs (no more than 4 pages long), which require applying an HR concept to the practice of policy (praxis analysis); the memo provides students with the opportunity to connect HR concepts to current events in practice. Students may research any topic relevant to the course.
- Students should address the memo to an elected official or agency manager.
- The memo should include the following components; they are weighted equally in grading the memo:
- research question
- synthesis of existing research on the topic
- listing of stakeholders
- evaluation/recommendation of how to solve the research question.
- Each student will submit the assigned work on or before the due date using D2L’s Dropbox (the “Assignments” tab).
