Poetry is so vast. Poetry encompasses so many different forms and styles of writing.  

This is your opportunity to read poetry written by others, professionals, and amateurs, to discover what you think, believe, and feel about poetry.  

Find one poem to enter into this forum.  Perhaps it is a favourite poem? Or a favourite poem that you came across in this search.  Perhaps it is something that changed your perspective or challenged you in some way.  

Once you have selected a poem to share, 

• Paste a text copy of the poem (with reference to where you found it, AND the author, if known.)

• Respond to the poem by briefly discussing:

1. Why are you so captivated by this poem?  Why this poem? What strikes you about this poem?

2. The way language in the poem is used within the poem to create rhythm, symbol, imagery, connotative meaning, inspire emotion, etc. 

Return to this forum after submitting your choice of poetry to review the posted poetry, and comment on another’s choice by thanking the poster for introducing you to a poem and writing a brief response to the poem they posted. How does the poem affect you? How is the poem effective at conveying its theme? What is striking about this poem?
