This extended Literature Review aims to cover the breadth and depth of writing that currently exists on a topic. It is an exercise to identify what is known about the chosen topic for students so they can identify best / current local and world practice, and the theoretical or practical evolution or development of ideas in that area. A literature review can also be an essential component of research projects to contextualise where the focus of the research fits within current theories and practices within Youth Work. This will enable students to offer critical analysis on a topic, which will be able to direct and inform their research question whilst enabling them to understand the importance of documenting their process and acknowledging other scholarly works.
