Summary of events: 
You respond to 284 Blake Street, Apartment #1 in Lewiston, in reference to a report of a  
late report of a burglary. Upon arriving at the scene, you knock on the door and a female  
by the name of Jennifer Leigh (DOB 7-27-87) answers. She invites you into the  
residence and states that her apartment was broken into overnight. She states she left her  
apartment last night at approximately 8pm, and remembers locking the door when she  
left. She stated that when she returned this morning at around 7am, she found the front  
door to her apartment open ajar. She stated that she found several of her belongings to be 
missing, including: 
– Samsung 32” flat screen TV, value $500 
– Nintendo Wii, black in color, value $200 
– Several Wii games and DVDs 
– A Garmin Nuvi GPS, brand new and still in the box, value $300 
Jennifer shows you around to the side of the building where a window is located. You  
notice that a screen is sitting on the ground that appears to have been removed from the  
window. There is a small cut in the screen. You note that the window is unlocked and  
opened about a half-inch. There appears to be no forensic evidence of value present at  
the point of entry, or anywhere else in the apartment.  
As a guide: 
Write out several investigatory questions you would ask of Jennifer. Think about the  
following: 
– Who knew she was going to be out of the house for the evening? 
– Did she have serial numbers for the items taken? 
– Does she live alone? 
– Etc….
