For this assignment, I am going to break out of the traditional format of summary/response and encourage you to explore your own critical thinking. After evaluating the core argument presented in Milgram’s “The Perils of Obedience,” please address the following two points:

1) Milgram’s experiment was, and still is, quite controversial since the participants were not originally aware they were the ones being observed. Do you think Milgram acted appropriately when he conducted this experiment? Why or why not?

2) What would you have done if you were in the same position as those in the Milgram experiment? Why do you think you would have reacted in that particular way?

This assignment is designed to help fine-tune your critical thinking and, therefore, is graded fairly leniently. Primarily, I am looking for effort and thoughtfulness in these responses.
