Assignment Overview

Complete the assigned readings under the background section and write a report to address the following:

  • The purpose of systems analysis and design in the development of information systems.
  • The core processes of the Systems Development Life Cycle.
  • The importance of planning during the systems analysis.

Assignment Expectations

Using the Background materials and other sources, write a report that addresses all questions in this assignment. State your position clearly and precisely with all references cited. Your paper should be at least 4 pages, single-spaced, not including cover sheet and references. Develop your supporting argument carefully and avoid making assertions for which you cannot find support other than your own opinion.

You will be particularly assessed on:

  • Precision: Draw on a range of sources to establish your understanding of the context of the question.
  • Support for assertions: Use examples, citations (especially from the required readings), and elaboration to support assertions. Provide evidence that you have read the required background materials.
  • Clarity: Answers are clear and show understanding of the topic.
  • Critical thinking: The paper incorporates your reactions, examples, and applications of the material to business, and illustrates your reflective judgment and good understanding of the concepts.
  • Breadth and depth: Provide informed commentary and analysis—simply repeating what your sources say does not constitute an adequate paper. The scope covered in your paper is directly related to the questions of the assignment and the learning outcomes of the module.
  • Overall quality: Apply the professional language and terminology of systems design and analysis correctly. The paper is well written and the references are properly cited and listed. Refer to the Trident Online Writing Lab at https://mytlc.trident.edu/files/Trident_APA_basics.pdf
