Interview Questions:
- What is your child’s disability and how old was your child when he/she became eligible for special education? (1 point)
- How did you first discover your child had a disability? (2 points)
- Who or where was the child referred to because of concerns in their development? (1 point)
- How and where was the child evaluated? (1 point)
- Discuss the strengths of your experience with the PPT/ IEP process. (2 points)
- Discuss the weaknesses of your experience with the PPT/IEP process. (2 points)
- How did you participate in the development of the goals and objectives of your child’s IEP? (2 points)
- What has been most difficult for you in caring for your child and meeting his/her needs? (1 point)
- What are some strategies you use in your home to help your child progress? (2 points)
- Are there any community resources that you take advantage of? Have they been helpful? (1 point)
Reflection: Reflect on how you felt about the parent’s experience and involvement in the PPT /IEP Process. (10 points)
This interview must be written as a paper. Each question can be separated into headings. Your Reflection section should reference the Parent’s responses you already detailed in a cohesive way
