Apply an evidence-based practice (EBP) model or change model to your implementation plan.

  1. Select a Model: Rogers’ diffusion of innovation theory is a particularly good theoretical framework to apply to EBP project. However, change models, such as Duck’s change curve model or the transtheoretical model of behavioral change, may also be used. Other conceptual models presented, such as a utilization model (Stetler’s model) and EBP models (the Iowa model and ARCC model) can also be used as a framework for applying your evidence-based intervention in clinical practice.   -  The Johns Hopkins Nursing Evidence-Based Practice (JHNEBP) Model

  1. Application of Model: Apply one of the above-mentioned models, or another EBP model or change model, and carry your implementation through each of the stages, phases, or steps identified in the chosen model. An outline of the conceptual model is required as part of the appendices in the final paper.

Part B:

  1. Describe the practice setting for the proposed project and discuss what approval is needed from the organization or department prior to implementing the intervention.  – For this evidence based practice proposal the practice setting would be in hospital setting in the pediatric emergency department. This would involve the medical providers and the nursing staff within the department. The healthcare staff that are participating in the project will be educated on the process of the electronic medical record.

  1. Describe the stakeholders who will be affected by the implementation. How will you communicate with them? Will they need special training for this intervention? – Some of the stakeholders that would be affected would be within the facility including pharmacy, IT, and quality management. Each department would need to know the same information on what is needed during this research and would only need special training in making sure the policy that is already written within the hospital is followed. There would not be any special training since the hospital always has policy in place for this procedure we would need more training with the nurses and staff giving medication.

  1. Develop a timeline. Include the amount of time needed for the project to be completed. Discuss the different steps that will occur throughout the timeline. Make sure the timeline is general enough that it can be implemented at any date. For Topic 5, you will provide the timeline in narrative form. For your final paper, you will need to include a timeline graphic in the appendices. – The implementation of this evidence-based project will take up to six months. In order to receive the best data the project would need to run its course. The explanation of the six month would be because medication that are realey used are not preform that often. Given six month will have enough data to see if using the electronic medical record correctly will lower medical errors?

  1. Establish the financial feasibility of the implementation plan. To do this, address the costs for personnel, consumable supplies, equipment (if not provided by the institute), computer-related costs (librarian consultation, database access, etc.), resources, and other costs (travel, presentation development). Make sure to provide a brief rationale for each. Develop a budget plan. Although you will be submitting the budget plan in Topic 5 with the narrative, a budget plan graphic should be placed in the appendices for the final paper.
PICOT: For pediatric patients in the emergency department does the proper use of the

electronic medical record reduce the future risk of medical error compared with not using the electronic medical record correctly.
