Essay 1 (Final Draft) is due on March 6. You need to start working on this at the beginning of Week 2. Essays must be submitted in the Essay 1 module in the link for Week 7. Essays must be uploaded (Word or PDF format) or typed into the Essay 1 assignment module. Do not email your essays to us. We will not accept essays sent by email. Do not use Google Docs or other cloud-based programs. Use Word or PDF.
For this assignment you will review Chapters 15 to 20 in Oakes, et al., Of The People and write a five paragraph reflection essay that addresses the following prompt:
Describe reform movements in the United States in the Reconstruction Era, Populist Era, and the Progressive Era. How did the Reconstruction Period, the Populist Movement, and the Progressive Movement change America? What conditions existed that led to the need for reforms? What government policies and Constitutional amendments changed the United States for the better?
This essay must have five full paragraphs: an introduction, three body paragraphs, and a conclusion paragraph. Each paragraph should be a minimum of five sentences. You will use parenthetical citations from the textbook, just cite the page numbers in parenthesis, like this (492). This tells the reader where you found your information.
