1.This week, I would like you to discuss the focused research sources you are finding on the databases and in the library. What are the sources, how credible are the sources, where did you find the sources, and how do you think you might use the source in you final paper (opposition, info etc.)? Also, feel free to give suggestions to your classmates about where to find some great sources.
Take a look at the readings for help with determining the effectiveness and credibility of the sources (CRAAP test, Evaluating Sources).
2. Also this week, in an effort to get us going on honing the argument and keeping the research focused and geared toward an end goal, I would like each of you to post your preliminary thesis statements and research question to the class (see last week’s notes for help with the research question and this week’s reading for the thesis). The thesis you post may take on a new shape once you have gone further with your research, so don’t worry if it is really “rough.” The “roughness” will subside with more research. In your replies, I would like you to give your classmates some feedback on their thesis statements and research questions–whatever you think might be helpful. Thanks!
