Hi class!

Your next assignment for this class is to pick a subject within the Veterinary Profession that interests you and you want to know more about.  This could be something you dream of pursuing as a career, something that you have heard about that intrigues you, or perhaps a controversy or an issue that faces the profession that you feel you should learn more about.  These topics should be written down in a brief format- about a paragraph- and turned in to me at the next class or emailed to me if you want feedback more quickly to be able to start your paper.  If your topic is accepted, it will be the topic for a 2 page, 12 pt font,  single spaced paper you will research and write on the subject. If you are undecided on what might be an appropriate topic, you may write down a couple of ideas and I can coach you on which to choose.  Remember to cite your sources.  Papers will be submitted to Blackboard this time. 

You should include in your paper a thorough discussion of the pros/cons and challenges of a career choice.  In addition, some statistics on job availability, propective salaries, what level of education would be needed (do you need a specialty?) and perhaps regional demand for your job (what part of the country or world would you end up working most likely). If you are exploring a veterinary controversy, both sides of the issue should be presented to explain why this is controversial.
