Diversity Training Assignment instructions:

You are working in HR for your employer (or your previous employer if that makes this assignment easier to conceptualize), and you think that your organization would benefit from havinga diversity training program for employees.

What kind of diversity training program exactly? This is entirely up to you to decide. The possibilities range from diversity of ideas, to racial diversity, religious diversity, diversity of spirit, etc. You must decide what type of diversity training you want to propose.

You also need to decide who your audience will be. All employees? Just managers? Just a specific department or location (if your organization has multiple locations)?

Please design a diversity training program. Create the PowerPoint slides you would use, and on a separate word document, type out what you would say for each slide.

You are in charge of your own training. Create it as you see fit.

While this is not required (you decide what you feel is best for your training), my advice is to start your presentation with an overview of your diversity training topic, and then have a slide or two where you discuss the importance of the training. This is frequently a good strategy in any employee training because employees tend to pay more attention to training seminars if they understand the importance of the topic and why the training is being offered.

Your training might also include a group exercise or break out sessions for the employees again, this is not a requirement. Create your training as you see fit. But break out sessions are frequently a good idea, particularly when they allow employees to use some of the concepts being taught.

You might have handouts for the employees. Feel free to create these and include them in your submission.

Lastly and this is required once you have created your training, you then need to draft an email that you would send to the CEO of the company, in which you outline and summarize your training idea, and talk about the importance of it and more specifically, why the company needs this training to happen. Tell the CEO your thoughts on how this training can benefit the organization. In short, this is the type of email you want the CEO to read and then say Good idea lets do this!.

This assignment is intentionally designed to give you a lot of freedom in creating the training program that you think will serve your organization best, and to create that program as you see fit. This does NOT mean that shoddy work will suffice be warned!
