Reflection is a deeper approach to learning and not a description of what happened. When reflecting, try to replay some of the challenging experiences encountered in clinic and answer the following questions.  

• Reevaluate this clinical experience. What do you think went well? And not so well? 

• How did the reality of your patient interaction compare with your expectations of appointments?  
• What feelings did the experience evoke?  
• If your patient did not comply to all or some of your recommendations, what else might you have tried? What would/could you have done differently and why?  
• Considering the ADA ethical code of conduct, were there any ethical dilemmas or issues surrounding your patient case? Please think in terms of the principles of Respect, Do No Harm, Do Good, Be Fair and Truthfulness.  
• Did this experience make you think about patient care in a new way?
