·      SELECTED WORK MUST COME FROM A FAMOUS / LARGE ART MUSEUM  COLLECTION – I would suggest the St. Louis

·      Must be submitted in a WORD doc.

·      Correct spelling/grammar/punctuation

·      Cover sheet with picture of painting [not included in wpp count

·      12 to 14 point font

·      Between 1000 and 1250 wpp

·       “Works Cited Page” with a min. of 2 sources

·      Double or single spaced

·      Your own words [plagiarism]

·      INTRODUCTION: 

 

o  WHAT TYPE OF ABSTRACTION WAS USED, HOW DO YOU RECOGNIZE THIS: [see end of Requirements]

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

·      DETAILED DESCRIPTION:

 

o  Your description should include: Title / artist /  date / size [other administrative details if available

o  Media: Oil paints / tempera / watercolor / acrylic /  etc.

o  Your description give a detailed description of everything you see in the work [like describing it to someone over the phone]

 

·      THEME:

o  Choose one of the themes of art discussed in CHAP.3 that you feel applies, explain how this theme was used, how it was shown

 

·      CONTENT: Meaning if there is one, this is subjective, if there is no apparent meaning you must say so

 

·      FORM: 

o  Choose of 3 of the elements of art / and 2 principles of design [part. II] / make sure they apply to the piece!

 

§  List the elements or principles YOU have chosen to discuss – they are attached at the end.

§  If choosing a “Dual Term” both must be addressed

·      Dual Terms

o  Time and Motion

o  Unity and Variety

o  Emphasis and Subordination

o  Scale and Proportion

o  Repetition and Rhythm

 

§  Use a minimum of one paragraph for each item you select

§  Discuss where the element / principle is found

§  Discuss how the artist uses it

 

·      HISTORICAL / BIOGRAPHICAL:

o  This section MUST be researched and use cited references

o  Research and use any historical information that may be available on the work

o  Research the artists biographical information
