Immune system diseases and disorders occur when the immune response is faulty, excessive, or lacking. In our Unit Eight Discussion, you will have an opportunity to evaluate some of these disorders. There are three categories of immune disorders discussed in this week’s reading:
- Allergy/Hypersensitivities
- Autoimmune Diseases
- Immune Deficiency Diseases
Address the following criteria in your main response to this week’s discussion:
- Choose ONE of the following:
- Choose one of the hypersensitivities discussed in the textbook. Describe when this hypersensitivity presents itself and provide a description of the type of antibodies/immunoglobulins it produces.
- Choose an autoimmune disorder discussed in the textbook. Describe the major characteristics of the chosen disease, the specific tissue affected by the disorder, and the course of action for a patient diagnosed with the disease.
- Choose an immune deficiency disease discussed in the textbook. Describe the general characteristics of the disease, identify the cause of the disorder and discuss the course of action for a patient diagnosed with the disease.
- Then, provide a case study highlighting your chosen disorder. Please do not identify the common name for the disorder in this response. Ask your peers to help you in diagnosing the disease! Please ensure that you check the discussion frequently to see if your peers have reached the correct diagnosis.
- Be sure to add at least one reference (using APA) which exemplifies where you learned about the material. This could be your e-text or another source. If you submit a video response, be sure to additional add a text response with your reference.
- All submissions should be in your own words. If you quote material, be sure to clearly designated these statements in quotations.
