 Demonstrate understanding of therapeutic bathing, basic grooming, and dipping of dogs or cats  Demonstrate understanding of which prescription shampoos/dips are used for particular dermatological diseases and explain usage directions to clients  Demonstrate understanding of basic grooming procedures, including patient and staff safety  Recognize commonly used prescription shampoos/dips and what conditions they are used for  Demonstrate knowledge of basic grooming techniques  Educate clients on prescription shampoos/dips, explain usage directions, and safety measures, including: o Observe all precautions mandated by the particular shampoo and implement all safety measures for pet and bather o Thoroughly wet the animal prior to application of the shampoo or dip o Apply shampoo or dip appropriately, avoiding patient discomfort o Rinse hair and skin thoroughly, removing all shampoo or dip if instructed to do so by manufacturer’s directions o Safely and adequately dry the animal o Comb or brush animal, removing mats if required  Demonstrate knowledge of safety measures when performing basic grooming and bathing techniques
