Compare/contrast essay of two artworks of at least 2000 words (not counting the title page or citations). 

The essay should be at least 2000 words, and not more than 2500 words, not counting the title page, footnotes, or bibliography

The essay should include:

1. Title Page: A title page, with a title that indicates your topic and thesis.

2. Introduction: An introductory paragraph that includes your thesis statement, the material data of each artwork, and an indication of what the reader will read in the essay.

3. Formal Analysis: A direct compare and contrast analysis of both works with respect to selected formal analysis elements such as color, form, balance, implied texture, etc. Both works should be compared/contrasted as you describe each element. Avoid focusing on just one work, and then the other. Be detailed. No research is needed for this section. Trust your eyes. Refer to each image by their titles or by the figure number, and do this throughout the essay. This should be at least 400 words.

4. Historical Context: A direct compare and contrast analysis of both works with respect to their historical and stylistic contexts. This section needs research to find out the date and place the work was first made or presented, and what was going on politically, culturally and within the world of art. Then directly compare and contrast how each work might be a reflection, criticism or rejection of the world, local news and art styles of the place and time they were made. Cite your sources using footnotes. This should be at least 500 words.

5. Extra Analysis: A direct compare and contrast analysis of both works with respect to your third chosen method of analysis. Cite your sources using footnotes. This section should be at least 600 words.

6. Conclusion: A conclusion that sums up the main points and clearly demonstrates the made areas of similarity and difference in the two works. Then state how this essay would best be expanded if it were a master’s thesis. What ideas still need to be explored?

7. Footnotes: A Chicago/Turabian footnote list.

8. Bibliography: A Chicago/Turabian bibliography of at least 4 (four) scholarly sources, beyond your textbooks.

Bang by Kerry James Marshall depicts the celebration of the annual holiday Independence Day also known as the Fourth of July. On the other hand, Tar Beach #2 represents a story with the usage of text and imagery to showcase the quality of a primary element. While both artworks Tar Beach #2 by Faith Ringgold and Bang by Kerry James Marshall are completely different in various ways, they have much more in common than one may realize.

b. Try & Follow This Outline & Answer Those Questions For The Paper

– The introduction paragraph detailing the material data (title, artist, year created, medium used, location and size) of both Bang and Tar Beach #2. Followed by will be an explanation summary of what readers will read throughout the essay. Lastly, the introduction will end with the thesis statement.

– Begin with comparing and contrasting both artworks together rather than separate starting with the sizing, color, form, balance, texture and more. (The physical attributes that can be determined by my own opinion)

– Followed by with comparing and contrasting both artworks together rather than separate starting with the sizing, color, texture and more. (The physical attributes that can be determined by research)

– Furthermore, continue to analyze both artworks and the meanings/reasonings behind each one. What was the purpose? What influenced the artist to create both works? How do the meanings and purpose behind each correlate or differ? Is there a connection in regards to race, politics, culture, etc?

– Next will be comparing and contrasting both with respect to their historical and stylistic contexts. How were both artworks developed during their periodical time? Were there any events that took place around that period/era that influenced both artworks? How do both relate or/and differ in regards to its historic backdrop? What were both artists experiencing personally during the creation of both Bang and Tar Beach #2? How these artworks can be considered a reflection, criticism, or rejection towards the news and/or art styles during their time.

– This paragraph will include more research about both artworks while still comparing and contrasting each.

– Summary of the entire essay finalizing the details of Bang and Tar Beach #2 in a lump sum and also the similarities/differences. Additionally, how this essay would best be expanded if it were a master’s thesis and if any ideas for each work should be explored further.
