Archetypes in Literature and Film
Archetypes in literature and stories in film can be of a number of character types, but we will focus on the hero. One could also consider a pattern of circumstances that are thought to be universal concepts of situations. When we think of film or movies with heroic actions, we usually think of supernatural or science fiction that may be on a quest for love, peace, power, revenge, protecting something, etc.; however heroes can be much more than superhero action figures, rulers, or sci-fi characters. They could also be main characters with no supernatural powers but skills and talent that exemplify courageous acts, mental toughness, bravery, perseverance, etc. to improve the world or some aspect of life. These types are also considered heroes. Some movies that come to my mind include Black Panther, Star Wars, Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings, Rambo collection, Die Hard collection, Taken collection, Batman, Superman, Thor and even Pursuit of Happiness, etc. These are just some examples. There are numerous films.
