Schools have unique cultures and at times, you may observe or experience rituals performed in schools that are not consistent with what we do in society.  Share aspects about the school culture that are unique to the school that you might find unusual today. 

• To assist you in brainstorming unique aspects of school culture, one example is walking in a straight line on a particular side of the hallway.  Where in society are we expected to walk in this particular way?

PART 2: SCHOOL CHOICES

Much of the school choice debate stems from the perceived threat that school choice options represent for traditional neighborhood public schools. In your initial posting, share your response to the following:

• How do you align philosophically on this issue?  
• Are students better off attending their neighborhood public schools?  
• Are neighborhood schools being undermined by the recent school choice options?
• What are some of the advantages and disadvantages of preserving the traditional neighborhood school?
