Great post Tiffany. Whilecryptocurrency is attractive to cybercriminals, it is actually very easilytraceable. This is due to the feature that made it so desirable in the firstplace, blockchain. Because blockchain is a permanent record of every hand thatcurrency has passed through, then all transactions are visible by anyone whohad hands on it. The FBI traced and recovered more than half the Bitcoin usedfor the Colonial Pipeline ransom last year. And, I dont know how true it is,but they say around 90% of the cash in circulation right now has cocaineresidue on it from either transactions or using the bill to partake.

“Sometimesreferred to as our sixth, seventh, and eighthsenses, contextual computing refers to a computing environment that is alwayspresent, can feel our surroundings, andbased on who we are, where we are,and whom we are withoffer recommendations (Bidgoli, 2020, p.341).”Bidgoli uses Siri as an example of contextual computing. Contextual computinggoes the extra mile when creating a personalized experience. When I get into mycar my phone automatically opens the GPS app and shows directions to places Ivisit frequently. It tracks my daily routine and will tell me how long it takesto get from my home to school or work. This may present a problem if your phonewere to get lost or stolen, or if my car were to be stolen with my phoneinside. Someone could start my car and instantly get directions directly to myhome, school, or workplace.

“Cryptocurrencyhas become increasingly popular over the years. Bidgoli lists the following asadvantages of cryptocurrency, cannot be counterfeited or reversed by thesender, immediate settlement, lower transaction fees, no risk for credit theft, available to anyone with a smartphone or Internet access, global access withoutlinkage to any particular currency or monitory system (Bidgoli, 2020,p.367).” I feel that the biggest threat or problem is that this form ofcurrency is not traceable and can therefore be used to conduct business in theblack market. Cryptocurrency does not have the ability to be exchanged forcurrency that is used as ‘legal tender’ (Bidgoli, 2020). This also makes itvery valuable and sought after.
