Sometimes medical personnel are faced with the task of comforting children in the midst of whatever is going on.
Your task is to tell a child a story that involves numbers. You start by writing down 2 of the following types of numbers: a percentage, a fraction or a decimal number.
Then you begin to tell a story showing how those numbers are used. For example, if I picked the number 6%, I would share how I have to pay a 6% tax on everything that I buy.
So, share your story with us by answering the following questions. Be sure to number your answers in the same way.
- What 2 types of numbers did you pick from the list: percentages, fractions, decimal numbers?
- What 2 numbers did you write down?
- Give a realistic story scenario that involvesboth numbers.
- Give a calculation involving the numbers (e.g. 6% * $10.25 = 0.06 * 10.25 = 0.615. This is 62 cents.).
