Read “The New Jim Crow” chapters 4-6 by Michelle Alexander, single-spaced, 12-point Times New Roman font, incorporating all the assigned readings for the week. You may not exceed the page limit. You may not incorporate quotations, under any circumstance, anywhere in the weekly critiques. These weekly critiques are not intended to summarize the articles, but instead should reflect critical responses/critiques of the readings. Also, they should include outside peer-reviewed sources to substantiate your claims. The following provides a structure that should be followed where applicable: (1) the thesis of the assigned reading, (2) the main arguments/findings that support the thesis, (3) a critique of the main arguments/thesis, (4) an incorporation of peer-reviewed research, and (5) two policy implications (i.e., solutions, initiatives, programs, etc. to address the issue).
Please only use liberal point of view as that is my point of view. I am for abolition and defunding the police so please right from that perspective. I believe police are racist and use excessive force and policing in black and brown communities and lower income communitites, and I agree with Michelle Alexanders POV. Please include two policy implications/solutions other than the “goverment fixing the situation”something like community organizing and community watch.
