Directions: Select one of the questions below. Write your answer in essay format, one inch margins, single-spaced, and minimum length 1200 – 1600 words to fully demonstrate your comprehension of the materials. Your essay should define key concepts (in your own words) and explain processes and specific examples that you have learned through the course. Include reference to maps, videos, or articles from the modules and weekly posts. Include NO quotations, but explain what you have learned. Be sure to cite (author, page) for any statistics that you introduce. Please just use course materials, no outside sources. This is not a research paper, just an in-class essay.
Due: Saturday, Feb 26th by 7:00 pm.
ESSAY PROMPTS
Hawaii is currently erupting. Describe and demonstrate plate tectonic processes causing effluent volcanism in hot spot regions. What other locations experience this same type of plate movement and volcanism? Refer to the atlas maps or text maps to identify specific Hawaiian volcanoes (and age) and other global hot spots. What hazards would you expect in Hawaii and other hot spot regions? How does effluent volcanism compare to explosive volcanism? Which type of volcanism do you think poses the largest loss of life? Be sure to describe types of plates, type of movement involved, and identify specific tectonic plates to validate your ideas.
What is a natural hazard? Describe and demonstrate three natural hazards and propose solutions to reduce loss of life or loss of property for people living in these regions. Explain one hazard (from those listed below) caused by each of the following processes;
a. weather (hurricanes or tornadoes),
b. tectonics (earthquakes, explosive or effluent volcanism), and
c. degradation (mass movement, karst environments, fluvial flooding, or tsunami (breaking waves).
For each process, be sure to describe a hazardous event caused by the process (such as Hurricane Maria), identify the hazardous process behind the event, describe how the hazard occurs, and use maps to locate where each hazard is found on a global basis. What solutions would you propose for each of these hazards? Where would you live if you want to avoid these hazards?
3. Identify and locate your ultimate tropical vacation spot from Week one. Describe and demonstrate three hazards
that you may experience. Consider cyclones, flooding (caused by convectional lifting, orographic lifting and fluvial
degradation), and volcanism (explosive or effluent). Take time to explain the cause of solar radiation patterns and
ocean temperatures stimulating these processes. What time of year would be the safest time to visit?
its due Saturday by 7pm
I need zero plagiarism, I’ve ordered from others who said they could do that but didn’t
