1. Controversial yet popular festival that draws hundreds of participants and hundreds of spectators.
2. Bulls and participants race through the streets of Spain to the bull ring where a bullfight will take place later it the day.
II. BODY
A. Festival occurs every year from July 7th-14th in Pamplona, Spain.
B. Started as a religious ceremony in the Middle Ages
C. Originally celebrated in September, but due to weather it was changed to July
D. PETA considers it a “barbaric bloodbath”
E. There are other traditions within the festival such as the countdown clock and red scarves
