Literary Analysis Essay on Fiction 

 

Instruction:

 

  1. Story: Wallace, David Foster. Good People
  2. understand its themes, images, symbols, characters, style, messages, and other significant aspects. Underline the parts that seem very important and use them to develop a thesis.
  3. Underline the thesis Statement and put it in Bold.
  4. The thesis statement should function as the main idea of the paper.
  5. Create each topic sentence for each body paragraph carefully.
  6. Choose the parts that can be actually used in each body paragraph. You can either quote or paraphrase them.
  7. When you quote lines, follow MLA in-text citation format.
  8. Add works cited at the end of the paper following the MLA format.

 

 

Check List:

 

  1. The thesis is clear.
  2. Each paragraph starts with a topic sentence that is related to the thesis.
  3. In each paragraph, the same idea (the topic) is argued, and the argument is supported by evidence from the text.
  4. Sentences in the paragraph are developed in a logical manner.
  5. The present tense is used, instead of the past tense.
  6. Quotations and paraphrases are used effectively. Quotations are not dropped. Instead, they are integrated in your sentences.    
  7. The paper reflects your analysis, not a summary of the story.
  8. The thesis is proved valid through body paragraphs.
  9. The introduction and the conclusion are relevant.
  10. Each sentence is crystal clear.
  11. No run-on sentences.
  12. No fragments.
  13. No grammatical errors.
  14. No misspellings.
