For this first assignment, you will state your main point (thesis, main point, general statement of opinion) about the two characters you’re following.   Using third person, you will write a sentence or two that clearly states your claim.   Refer to the epigram and tell why you chose these two characters to compare. Be sure to briefly describe each of them in a sentence (including a few quick, relevant details, such as full name, age, occupation, nationality, appearance, reputation).  Describe each one’s personality at the beginning of the novel — and suggest how the war will change him and his future prospects. Include the full name of the author, novel title, and genre.
