Pedigree Term Project: For the lab term project, students will research and analyze data and scientific articles
addressing genetic traits and pedigrees. Students will select and research the inheritance of easily identifiable
genetic traits (widows peak, attached earlobes, tongue roller etc.). Each student will choose a trait, develop a
data collection plan for their family (or another family), organize that data into data tables and build a
pedigree. The pedigree will be then used to compare the observed inheritance pattern in the students family
to the expected inheritance pattern. Students will construct a scientific poster (Introduction, methods, results,
conclusion) and present it to their class at the end of term poster symposium
