There is a debate whether milestones (discontinuous change) are harmful and that we should allow children to develop at their own pace without stages (continuous change). This is in part an effort to avoid labeling a child as developmentally “delayed” or “advanced.” Do you think that motor development milestones are useful for parents or should we remove them in favor of a more nonjudgmental approach? Explain your rationale.
