Purpose Statement 

This assignment (#1) addresses course outcome 2 and module 6 learning objective 2. 

Instructions 

Security has become a pertinent focus in sport venues due to the increase of security threats that’s occurred around the world. Read the article “Notable Events in the Evolution of Sports Venue Security”, including the related articles within the main text. Examine how these various high-profile incidents shared in the article have highlighted the range of security threats posed to sports venues, and how the sports security industry has evolved in response. The focus of this article will prepare you for completing the final research paper.

Research at least two mega-events that posed a security threat during a sport event and/or at a sport venue (such as 2002 Super Bowl, 2018 FIFA World Cup, or any other you are interested in). Develop a detailed research paper that thoroughly analyzes the impact the events have on how we view security precautions at sport venues today. 

Include the following elements in your research report:

• Briefly summarize the events you selected that posed a security threat. 
• Identify what security measures were taken to ensure the safety of athletes and fans during the events.
• Based on your gained knowledge of the cultural, philosophical, and social impact sport had ancient Greece and ancient Rome, share how these security threats would have been handled during ancient times. Consider the security precautions and consequences that would have been implemented. 
• What impact did the events have on the safeguards we implement today at sport venues and during sport events?
• Considering the changes in time and the advancement of technology, are there any prevention measure that are used today that could have been used to avoid the treat?

Provide evidence from the course resources to support your response. You can also research additional academic articles available through the University Library to use as supporting evidence.

Your paper should be a minimum of 750-words, double-spaced, 1” margins, Times New Roman, and 12 font with only your name in the upper right or left hand side. Submit your assignment by uploading it to Moodle using Microsoft Word.
