Please tell me in approximately 2 typed pages how your MBTI code type matches your personality.

  • What does your personality profile say about how you relate to others, yourself, and the world?
  • How does this mode of relating feel different from a close friend, partner, or family member’s style of relating? For example, INTJs and ESFJs are sometimes said to not get along because of their different kinds of consciousness.
  • What are the strengths of your personality type?
  • Each 4-letter code type has a dominant function which is considered the more developed conscious function. What advantages does it give you in life areas such as relationships, career, perception, study styles, life approach, etc.?
  • Also, discuss the challenges your personality typefaces. Carl Jung referred to the least developed part of our personality as the inferior function.
  • Your MBTI code type also supposedly reveals your auxiliary (secondary) and tertiary functions. How well developed (how conscious) do you perceive these to be?
  • Remember, Extraversion and Introversion are not functions but attitudes. Be sure to describe your 4 functions as well as your attitudes.
  • Lastly, what new insights did you gain about yourself as a result of having researched your code type? How might you live your life differently now in terms of career, habits, relationships, or anything else you value in life?

Disclaimer: You may not feel that your MBTI code type fits you well. Remember that this is just a model of personality and not your actual personality which is much more fluid and unique to you. Also, your “reported type” as revealed through the online tests may not reflect your “true type.” Some people have to take the questionnaire multiple times or seek private consultation before they finally find the 4-letter code type that fits them best. For this paper it’s ok to just talk about the functions that fit you and not the overall code type. You don’t need to include information about your code type that you feel doesn’t seem to describe you. For example, just because many ESTJs enjoy gardening doesn’t mean you have to have a green thumb as well.

There is no prescribed paragraph organization for this paper. My hope is that you will feel free to share personal perceptions and feedback about yourself that you receive from others. The structure is up to you. An A for this assignment will show clear understanding of the different personality functions, attitudes, and orientations as described by Jung and his followers. Don’t tell me what these concepts mean but show me that you understand them by using this vocabulary to richly describe yourself. Creatively apply these concepts to your unique self. You may consider sharing personal experiences that paint of picture for me of what your personality type looks like in action. For example, you might tell me about the last time you were in the kitchen and how your cooking style was in conflict with someone else in the kitchen. Travel is another common experience where personality styles clash. Lastly, your writing will be engaging, even poetic if you choose, so that I can imagine what it might be like to walk around in your "personality shoes."
