This reflection paper aims to provide a summative assessment of what you have learned from this class. Hopefully, you will apply this new knowledge to future academic and professional endeavors. Your perceptions of law enforcement, the courts, and the correctional system are essential and must be grounded in truth. The criminal justice field needs Godly men and women who stand on biblical principles and represent Christ Jesus in an uncertain world.
INSTRUCTIONS
We’ve touched on many pressing issues when completing the assignments and interacting with the course materials during the last seven weeks, some of which may have provoked continued, profound thought on your part. Naturally, life understood through personal experience can appear more legitimate than a textbook’s rendition of the real world; hence, the story you live in is the story you live out. Moreover, learning about the criminal justice system through a biblical worldview is a novel idea for many, e.g., God meant for governmental authorities to be servants for our good (Romans 13:4), to prevent vigilantism by overcoming evil with good (Romans 12:21).
1. For this reflection assignment, discuss one (only one, please) new concept (theoretical or practical) that you have learned during the last eight weeks through a biblical worldview.
Explain in detail this new concept.
2. Following your explanation, discuss how this new knowledge has increased your understanding, awareness, or perhaps wisdom on your selected topic. Refer to the course materials and the Bible to support your thoughts. An example would be, “I learned that illegally seized evidence can be admissible in court under the good faith exception to the exclusionary rule” (please do not use this illustration as a topic for this assignment).
Your 400-word minimum/500-word paper supports your views on this week’s required readings and study materials, demonstrating course-related knowledge. You must support your work with at least 3 scholarly citations in the APA format. Specifically, 1 citation will refer to the course materials, 1 citation will refer to the Bible, and the third may refer to a scholarly article published within the last five years. (Exclude assignment questions, title page, and reference section from the word count.)
