In this Traditional Argument, you will
- grab the reader with an effective introduction;
- state a clear, unequivocal claim that asserts the argument you will prove throughout the paper;
- develop body paragraphs with clear subclaims (topic sentences) and emotional, logical, and credible proofs (primary and secondary supporting sentences);
- develop a counterargument section where you address the other side and either refute or concede to the opposing viewpoints; and
- effectively conclude by bookending or reminding your reader of your paper’s purpose and ensuring you have satisfied the audience’s concerns.
Remember, this is the paper you have been prepping since the Issue Proposal. All your research for the past several weeks should have prepared you to argue your claim.
Your paper should be approximately 4-6 pages long, plus end matter (i.e., works cited page). Please use no more than five credible sources(unless you and I discussed more than this specifically). Consider using a personal interview as one of your sources to keep your argument local and relevant. Then, rely on books and database research before turning to the Internet.
