A second part to this is Semiotics- or the study of signs and symbols- this is how we assign meaning to shapes once theyve been created. Both of these concepts will be important parts of this section. Learning to see the world in terms of abstract shapes is an important part of both abstraction and surrealism. This workbook is about breaking down and seeing through this cognitive perceptual ordering system, to find letterforms in the random combination/ placement/ manufacturing/ etc. of objects in the world around you. Instead of seeing things the way they are intended to be seen, you are re-contextualizing them to create new meaning.
