1) What grades are taught in this school?  9-12

2) What is the diversity of the student population? 50% white, 25% African American, 13% Hispanic, 12% Other

3) What are the roles and responsibilities of this professional?  I teach English III to 130 students. 2 inclusion, 2 honors, and 2 regular classes.

4) How does the school apply a multidisciplinary (team) approach in

providing services to the students? There are certified teachers equipped to teach each specific subject to students in school. Each grade level teacher that teaches the same subject is a team that meets once a week to discuss plans, student behaviors, and ways to improve our lessons and classes for the students.

5) How does the school integrate with the environment of the students? (family, community) We have parent teacher conferences every semester. Teachers are also required to contact a parent in case of any behavioral or academic issue before writing a student up or failing a student in a class.

6) What is one particular problem, issue, or challenge that this school is currently addressing?  What are the barriers to resolving the issue?

7) What are ways you go about helping students in your classroom who need the help no matter the situation? I always make sure I accommodate for all students academically. This means making larger copies for students with sight issues, reading tests, to students when needed, giving certain students extra time for assignments, etc. As far as mental health needs, if I see a student is more quiet than usual, I put them aside and ask if they are okay. I have water bottles ready in case anyone really needs one.

8) How do you see yourself advocating for your students? I always listen to my students contributions to class, say their names when I address them, give them positive feedback whenever they try, and I always ask what they need from me or how I can improve my class.

I advocated for one particular student who needed to receive extra large textbooks because he is legally blind. The county was being very difficult with this task so I had to fight for his large books.

9) what issues does your school face most within the student population? Fights and lack of parental/financial support for students
