In chapter 2 of Punished, the author discusses the implementation of Proposition 21 in California starting in 2000. Do you agree with this law? What were some policy changes associated with this law? And what was its impact on the lives of black and Latino youths in Oakland? Is it a good strategy to reduce gang crime, in your view. and why/why not? Please refer to specific passages/examples fromPunished in the essay. 

Option 2: 

Explain how anomie or strain theory is illustrated in the story of one of the boys researched in chapter three of Punished. In your response, you should draw both from chapter three of Rios, and chapter five of Posick. (You should draw from the Posick book when defining or summarizing the theory you choose to apply; and refer to specific pasages from Rios to connect the theory to the life experience of one of the boys.) Also, make sure you are clear on which particular theory you are working with.
