Background-
Malignant tumors are cancerous masses formed from abnormal cells that are highly unstable, and are able to travel throughout body via blood stream, circulatory system, and lymphatic system. The most common types of malignant tumors are sarcomas and carcinomas. Malignant tumors do not have chemical adhesion properties that keep them anchored to their original growth site, as is the case with benign tumors. Benign tumors are similar in that they are also formed from abnormal cells; however, they are considered noncancerous and are generally unable to spread to other areas of the body. They stay where they grow, and are often surrounded by a protective sac formed from ones immune system, which allows for easy removal. The most common of benign tumors include moles, papillomas, lipomas, and fibroids.
