During the Presidential Campaign of 1912, Theodore Roosevelt was shot outside of the auditorium prior to giving his speech.  In a 3 to 4 page paper place yourself at the event, describing your personal reaction, any details, and following up.  This paper should be written in the spirit of a newspaper article or editorial.  For a newspaper article the first paragraph should be a general review of the rest of the article, but the body of the paper/article should be much more involved and descriptive. 

Some questions to consider: 

Would you or your newspaper support Roosevelt?

 Is this a defense against a tyrant or an act of anarchism? 

How do you think that this will impact the election? 

How would you be impacted by something like this happening?

Grading is based on spelling, grammar, and how well you incorporate the newspaper aspect.  Also, I will be looking for specific details regarding the assassination including the assassin, city, potential motivation, and outcomes.  Be conscious of tense and perspective—do not flip flop between past tense and present tense and first person and third person perspectives.

Your paper should be 12 pt. font, double-spaced, with standard margins.  DO NOT space it out like a newspaper column!
