The purpose of this assignment is to enable students to view human growth and development
from a macro- rather than micro-perspective. Thus, change is examined on the international
level in this assignment rather than from that of an individual or family.
This assignment will consist of reading I Am Malala, conducting additional research on the
incidents portrayed in the book, and writing a 5-7 page paper based on one of the five themes
listed below. This paper should explore the changes that happened both in the country of
Pakistan and internationally as a result of Malala’s experiences and her subsequent presence on
the global stage. She has come to embody a significant force for change regarding human
rights for women and girls, particularly access to education.
There is a requirement that students use at least five (5) outside sources in addition to the
book being read. All assignments must be typed in 12 pt. Times New Roman font, and double-
spaced with margins of 1" all around, Students must let the instructor know which
theme they have decided to research no later than January 29. The final paper is due
on February 26.
